Raupatu

In 1995, the Crown formally acknowledged the wrongful confiscation of 1.2 million acres of Waikato land with a Treaty settlement of $170 million, signed by Queen Elizabeth II.

Raupatu is the story of rangatira forging the Waikato-Tainui settlement and leading the tribe’s development over the ensuing 25 years. This five-chapter interactive website was produced for the Waikato-Tainui College for Research and Development and Manatū Taonga, Ministry for Culture and Heritage, as part of the Te Tai Treaty Settlement stories.
